Event Information

The Great Barrier Reef Ocean Swim (GBROS) is operated in conjunction with Sunlover, the biggest and most reliable tour operator on the Barrier Reef. The 2024 swim will take place from the Sunlover pontoon located on Moore Reef, 60km from Cairns. A One Kilometre course is marked out by buoys and following the Reef perimeters, to create the most beautiful swim view in the world! 

Swimmers are transferred out to the Reefs by the fantastic Sunlover vessel, leaving from Cairns. The trip is approximately 1.5 hours, subject to route, and allows a full day out on the reef. Due to tide and weather considerations, timing are not precise until close to the event, but the swim will commence approximately 30 mins after arrival on the pontoon, allowing time for warming up etc. Post swim there will be lunch, then opportunities to enjoy snorkelling, underwater viewing and the Semi Submarine (scuba is available upon request, minimum numbers to be met). 

This is a full day on the reef experience and all swimmers will receive extensive gift packs and full complimentary photography of the swim.
